These findings are backed by the fastest growing youth platform, Youth4work that is consistently empowering youth for achieving professional and personal excellence. Only about 1% of the 1.3 Million youth on the platform are from Jharkhand and have shown intent to self-assess and showcase their skills, against 15% youth from Maharashtra. This can probably attributed to youth’s lack of interest in youth for skill based jobs. Moreover, approx 70% of the state’s youth on the platform express their preference to work in other states where opportunities are diverse and more. A survey with companies on the platform also revealed less interest in posting jobs in the state.

This is an indicator of the tough competition in the job market out there in the major cities of the state. Furthermore, the salaries are also not luring and attractive for talents jobs. The average annual salary for Fresher/Entry Level (0–3 years) is Rs 1.5 Lakh, for Mid-Level Level (4–7 years) is Rs 2.8 Lakh. The insights of the job delivered by Youth4work are even more alarming with the surveys depicting the drift for fresher/ entry level jobs between a minimum of Rs 0.5 Lakh to a maximum of Rs 1.8 Lakh.

Mr. Rachit Jain, Founder and CEO, Youth4work shares in this context, “There is competitive youth talent potential available in Jharkhand that needs to be showcased aptly and equipped with avenues. Through Youth4work, we are trying to unleash this potential using technology by bringing them on the same platform along with other states and ranking them using various data points. It would be great to showcase roles like Java developers or Digital Marketing managers from Jharkhand. Self-assessing tests — yTests — are certainly helping a lot of youth. We want companies to see and access this talent pool ranked on skills. We are also trying to tackle Employability by upskilling youth through various skill certification courses.”

What is required in these dire times is maximum utilisation of human capital and technology resources already available in the state- both by youth and companies to boost employability and employment. Distinctive people platforms like Youth4work and others are surely aiding in this endeavor and can play important roles to shape the destiny of this strategically important part of Eastern India in times to come.
